I am very thankful to participate in "You are a CEO". Tonight, I took time out to listen and enjoy the CD on Personal Awareness by Mr. Micheal Parker. I have learned some much from listening to the CD and answering the questions. I have given serious thought to about what is the root of my thought pattern. I think I should listen to this CD once a week or more to reinforce and evaluate what is my emotional intelligence . I never imagined that I would look at my life experiences and see how they have shaped and molded me into who I am today. I truly believe if I start to utilize these tools that are given , I WILL BECOME THE CEO OF MY LIFE.

Hi Pammie,
Loved that post. I think you are right. Listening to this audio cd often reminds you that you need to see where do these thoughts or behaviors come from.
The other day, Yesterday in fact I got home and normally I am kinda grouchy. I usually work to long, to late at night and am tired and hungry. Rarely, do I feel like being nice and chatty when I get home.
Mom, on the other hand does not work and all day she rests, reads and putters around so she's in a great mood when I get home and ready to talk and share her day.
We had talked about my feelings and mutually agreed she would let me unwind before recounting her wonderful day in her cheery mood because she was getting on my nerves.
So, sweetly, she agreed she would wait for me to shower, change into comfotable clothes and come down stairs for our nightly chats.
I knew she needed to talk. I could have been the only person she saw all day but why was I so grouchy to someone so sweet at my mom?
(I find out...)
So, Mr. Parker instituted a curfue at work and now we have to leave at a certain time. I see daylight and get home much earlier.
To my surprise yesterday, I was not tired or grouchy. I had an easy day as not many people were at work and my work load was light. We were filming videos and that is something I really enjoy.
So after a healthy dinner at the table, I had gone into the backyard to put water in the hot tub and noticed the huge yellow flowering trees alongside the house had been trimmed.
We had an estimate of $600 and mom said she would get another to save us money so I was surprised it was now trimmed. The flowers were causing us both bad allergies and getting in the hot tub as well.
Anyway, I found out mom had cut down the branches. These were 2 story high touching the roof and I was going to "get" her. She had no business on the roof with a ladder cutting down branches.
When I called her she came outside and showed me this "tool" she had picked up at the hardware store. It looked like a tool you would use to get cobwebs off the celing but it had a clipper on the end.
She demonstrated. She is 65 and she was hacking up this tree with ease - I was amazed. I asked her to let me try since she seems to love gardening so much and she showed me.
Anyway, we spent about 2 hours hacking up our yard and we had a blast.
We ended up finding about 2 cups of plump juicy blackberries from a vine by our pond under all those bushes. We sprinkled a little sugar on them and they tasted better than cobbler - fresh off the vine.
We had such a blast that night and I was surprised how breaking my old habits changed my mood.
Cutting all those bushes and branches was such fun... really... relxing and a great stress reducer.
So what's the moral of my story?
Looking back and being personally aware I can see how my habits affect my mood and actions.
I can see that my habit of sitting in my chair, tuning others out, watching TV and eating came from my grouchy dad who did the same things.
Since our TV had been out for over a month my routine was broken and I was ready to engage with a real person and open for a new routine.
Working less hours also broke a pattern and put me in a better mood. By simply taking the time to interact with someone and trying new things from anothers perspective I found happiness for us both.
She was delighted to pull out all types of tools for me to try. I snipped, clipped and sawed. I think next time my friends come over everyone must try some of these gardening gadgets before dinner can be served... by the hot tub of course.
Enjoy Life and be Personally Aware You Are the CEO of your life and your life affects those who love you.
